February 9,2022 | By Centennial Properties

Valentine's Day is a special time, but it can also be a stressful time as well. There are so many options of things to do that it can quickly become overwhelming. Let us help!

If you're in New York City, or are planning to travel to the city to surprise your partner, here are some romantic ideas to choose from that are sure to make your day special. Choose one idea off the list, or you can make an entire day out of it.

Go ice skating

You can choose to walk around the city and take in the beauty that New York City has to offer, but why not spice it up a little and go ice skating? Not everyone is as steady on their skates, so just be careful that this is the right choice for you and your partner. Rockefeller Center and Central Park are some great places to check out, but they can get packed pretty quickly. Here are some other ice rinks to consider that might offer a little more privacy than a tourist hot spot.

Check out the Love in Times Square exhibit

Every February, Times Square gets a romantic makeover. This year, locals were encouraged to submit their surprise proposals and wedding stories. The winners get to have their special moment displayed at Father Duffy Square. Take your partner there to check out the installation.

Stroll through Central Park

Walking through Central Park is always romantic, but there's just something special about holding hands and strolling through the park on Valentine's Day. If you go later in the evening, you'll get to enjoy the beautiful lights of the city in the background — like something straight out of a movie scene. And it's completely free.

Make a reservation for a romantic dinner

Do you and your partner love eating out at restaurants and sipping on incredible cocktails? There are so many restaurants to choose from to celebrate Valentine's Day in New York. A lot of restaurants offer Valentine's Day specials, you can see some of these spots here, but you can really take your partner anywhere. A rooftop bar, food truck, or Michelin star restaurant are all great options depending on your budget, favorite cuisine, and the ideal environment you want to be in.

Take an evening cruise

NYC is surrounded by two rivers, which makes it a great place to enjoy a boat ride. As the sun starts to set, you and your loved one will set sail. Depending on the cruise you book, it might even include a meal you'll get to enjoy as you ride around the city. Here are some options to look into.

Go to a comedy club

Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about expensive dinners and huge surprises, it can also be about finding fun entertainment as well. If you and your partner enjoy comedy, consider checking out a show in NYC. We'd recommend seeing an improv show if you've never had the opportunity to attend one before — they're often cheaper but just as fun. Whatever you decide to do this Valentine's Day, we hope it's a memory you'll both remember forever.
